PRT Nurseries Achieve SOD-free Status
All PRT nurseries in British Columbia have completed a voluntary certification procedure to ensure they are free of Phytophthora ramorum, a water-borne fungus that can cause Sudden Oak Death (SOD). This procedure meets US import requirements and is coordinated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency with approval from the United States Department of Agriculture. PRT Oregon is also SOD-free certified based on US standards. P. ramorum has not been found east of the Rocky Mountains, and therefore there is no anticipated requirement for certification of PRT nurseries outside Oregon and British Columbia.
