Financial Reporting Professional

Location:	PRT Corporate Office - Victoria, BC
Reports to:	Corporate Controller
Department key functions:	Timely and accurate financial and regulatory reporting

	New requirements for external reporting specifically compliance with NI 52-109 and the transition to International Financial Reporting Standards will be key functions of this position.
Position Description:	Specific and Essential Accountabilities: Responsible for supervising the overall appraisal of adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure controls and procedures under NI 52-109 as well as corporate business policies. Develops and recommends evaluation procedures; participates in and supervises the internal control testing procedures; identifies and investigates weaknesses in financial reporting controls, and recommends actions. Prepares reports and presents findings directly for and to the CFO and CEO. Assists in the implementation of significant financial reporting initiatives such as IFRS and enhancements to cost accounting budgetary systems. May assist the Corporate Controller in the development and maintenance accounting records and systems. Assists in the preparation of periodic and annual financial statements and reports and ensures generally accepted accounting principles are consistently applied, reviews for completion and accuracy, and ensures deadlines are met. Performs financial and economic research and analysis relative to financial trends, policies and procedures. Prepares reports for senior management. Other duties, as may, from time to time, be required.

Qualifications:	Supervisory experience, strong communication and interpersonal skill are required. Incumbents must be comfortable working in ambiguous and stressful situations. Flexibility, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple projects & deadlines are required of this position. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree with accounting and business emphasis, experience in a related field including 1 to 3 years of financial or internal audit experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, and will be working towards a professional designation, such as CA, CGA, CMA or CIA.
