PRT Kirkland Lake produces all reforestation species required in northeastern Ontario, Quebec, and the Great Lakes Region and northeastern US, including:
- 1+0 and 2+0 container-grown seedlings
The nursery has cold-storage facilities for seedlings produced for spring planting. Seedlings can also be stored at our cold storage facility in Manitouwadge, Ontario.
PRT Kirkland Lake specializes in the following products:
- Seedlings for summer planting. 1+0 or 2+0 crops grown in custom programs that yield well-conditioned seedlings.
- 2+0 container-grown seedlings. The moderate climate, consistent snow cover and our ability to generate artificial snow provide an ideal environment for 2+0 seedlings. These robust, well-balanced seedlings provide great value, especially for sites subject to vegetative competition and/or snow press. They are typically used on productive sites as a replacement for bareroot seedlings. We also offer 2+0 seedlings grown at other PRT nurseries that have favorable climates for overwintering.
